An excursion tour Mysteries of the Maya and Aztecs is designed to arouse interest and new feelings by variety of colourful images, smells and tastes.
The most famous Mexican artists’ Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera’s works reflect the history of the country. A visit to the National Museum of Anthropology, the historic center of Mexico City and the ancient cities such as Teotihuacan, Uxmal and Chichen Itza will bring you closer to the roots of the country telling more about the ancient civilizations of the Mayans and Aztecs. Many of these places are declared to be historical heritage of humanity and are protected by UNESCO.
The culture of Mexico during the times of dominance of the Spanish crown can be felt in the colorful colonial cities of Campeche and Merida. Finally, at the end of the trip, you are expected to enjoy the natural beauty of the underground lake and the turquoise waters of the Caribbean.

ZOKALO – NATIONAL MUSEUM OF ANTOPOLOGY - TEOTIHUACAN
Breakfast. A sightseeing tour around the central part of Mexico including a visit to the historic center of the city and the Zocalo square (in the UNESCO list).
Thousands years ago there was the ceremonial center of the Aztecs’ capital city on the same place here, and the magic of the place has been preserved to the present day. We will visit the Cathedral and the National Palace*: this residence at different times was occupied by governors, emperors and presidents, but now you also have an opportunity to walk around over there. We will visit the national Museum of Anthropology, the largest in Latin America and one of the most significant in the world. Its collection consists of numerous archaeological and ethnographic exhibits from every corner of Mexico. Here we will meet the most significant and interesting cultural objects of the Maya and Aztecs, and will better understand the mutual influence of the two great civilizations.
An excursion to the archaeological part of the ancient city Teotihuacan (in the UNESCO list). In addition to the famous pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, you can see here the impressive Avenue of the Dead and the Temple of the Feathered Serpent Quetzalcoatl, decorated with giant snakeheads. FRIDA KAHLO MUSEUM – HACIENDA LA NORIA – XOCHIMILCO
After breakfast – an excursion to the south of Mexico City. A visit to Frida Kahlo Museum. The Blue house built in the colonial style is situated in the scenic ancient district Coyoacan. The famous Mexican artist was born here and lived the major part of her extraordinary life, full of passion and pain. “Legs, why do I need my legs if I have wings to fly”, - this way Frida described her own physical and spiritual being.
We will continue our way in direction of Xochimilco also visiting hacienda La Noria, in which Dolores Olmedo Museum is located today. Here you can see the works of the two most famous Mexican artists: above mentioned Frida Kahlo and her husband Diego Rivera*. Then we will arrive in the district of Xochimilco, with its canals, full of bright boats and famous floating gardens chinampas. The system of canals of the Lake Texcoco, which once was very large, has existed for several hundred years. It was created at the times when on the site of Mexico City their magnificent capital of Tenochtitlan flourished. Arrival at the 5* hotel.

MEXICO CITY – CAMPECHE
TRANSFER TO THE AIRPORT AND FLIGHT TO CAMPECHE.
Meeting with the Russian-speaking guide and a sightseeing tour around the most beautiful colonial city of the peninsula Yucatan. The historical center Campeche was recognized by UNESCO heritage of humanity. A stay over in the hotel in Campeche or its neighborhood.
IMPORTANT! During the transfer from airport Campeche to hotel Campeche Russian language is not ensured. The meeting with the guide on arrival at the hotel.
CAMPECHE – UXMAL – MERIDA
After breakfast we will go to Uxmal (in the UNESCO list), an ancient town of the Mayan civilization, which has preserved its charm up to these days. Here you can see excellent examples of Puuc majestic architectural style.
Next point of our trip is the colonial city Merida, the capital city of Yucatan. The main interest for the tourists here is Independence Square and the monumental avenue Montejo (Paseo del Montejo), where we can admire the luxurious residences in the European style, built in the late XIX - early XX century. Accommodation in a 4* hotel in Merida.

On the way from Uxmal to Merida, we will make a stop in Celestun – a small village in the west of the Yucatan Peninsula, on the Gulf Coast. Here you will visit the biosphere preserve with magnificent pink flamingos and enjoy the large colony of these amazing birds that graze in the shallow waters near the narrow spit that separates the bay from the lagoon. Your flat-bottomed vessel will quietly approach the flock so that you can enjoy the stunning close-up of the birds. During the boat ride you will also go deep into the mangroves which form a kind of scenic canopy over the waters of the river.
MERIDA – CHICHEN ITZA – IK KIL – CANCUN
After breakfast you will go to the archaeological area of the ancient city Chichen Itza – one of the main centers of the Mayan civilization. The major sight of the city is the pyramid of Kukulkan included in the list of the Seven New Wonders of the World. You will also see the Observatory and the biggest in Central America field for the sacred ball game. The cool water of the most beautiful semi-underground lake Cenote Ik-Kil, will refresh you before the departure to the coastland.
Yucatan conceals many more treasures, but tourists are already dreaming of the deserved rest in a hammock with a glass of margarita, the white sands and turquoise waters of the Caribbean.
