Italy: Fall in love with Tuscany

Italy: Fall in love with Tuscany

ABOUT TOUR:

Author’s tour for mini-groups starting from 8 to 15 people.

One of the great Italians once said, that Tuscany should be tasted drop by drop, with pleasure... And indeed it is. We will treat
you with an incomparable Tuscan “drink” so that its aftertaste will stay with you forever, because there is nothing in the world
more durable, than memory and impressions of what you see, hear and feel.

This author's tour is primarily suitable to those, who have already visited Tuscany, but at the end of the trip, it seemed that there was not enough time to spare in there and wanted to stay longer to feel once again the beauty and romance of the incomparable Tuscany.

The tour will start very dynamically on Saturday – right from the accommodation. Moreover, the settlement is really unusual – you will live in a real Tuscan villa – with all facilities included and with wonderful views of the Tuscan landscapes! Every morning, along with the scent of flowers and herbs, the villa will be filled with the smells of products delivered by local farmers: cottage cheese, meat and cheese, scrambled eggs with orange yolks, homemade pastries. And to all of this will be served strong tart Italian coffee, tea, juice. And every evening you will enjoy the Tuscan wine served to rustic dinner – light, tasty and satisfying...

Day 1 / Saturday
Arrival at the villa. You will live in a real Tuscan villa – with all facilities included and with wonderful views of the Tuscan landscapes!

Day 2 / Sunday
Bongiorno, friends! Breakfast is waiting for you, and at 09.00 am we’ll go on an excursion to the neighboring Umbria. And literally in 15 minutes – Bufalini Castle is waiting for us. Located between Tuscany and Umbria, this castle is considered to be one of the most unusual buildings. And around the castle – the famous green labyrinth – one of the favorite amusements of the nobility of the XVII-XVIII centuries, lemon alley, orchards, rose gardens and even a garden house with stones taken from the villa of the greatest Pliny!

Further on is the Citerna – a small town on the top of a mountain with a breathtaking view of the slumbering Umbria. Citerna truly is one of the hundred most beautiful small towns in Italy.

A few kilometers from the town of Citerna is a farm where buffaloes are bred. Owners will introduce us to the art of making cheese and will offer you fresh mozzarella and buffalo milk curd. We guarantee – it will be delicious.

Day 3 / Monday
After breakfast we continue to discover our neighbor Umbria with the city of Spoleto, which we will reach after one and a half of hour. We will walk down through Spoleto’s streets, will admire the palaces and temples, will touch the Roman sarcophagi on the cathedral square… You will learn the most exciting and romantic love story of the monk-painter Filippo Lippi to the beautiful nun Lucrezia Buti.

Use the advantage of free time – visit of one of the taverns, taste a glass of pomegranate Sagrantino vine without any rush, inhale the terrific smells of truffles and lamb on the grill…

Day 4 / Tuesday
After breakfast at 9 am trip to Florence. In an hour and forty minutes we are there (excursion for an additional fee, for those who wish for it – 130 euros including entrance tickets to the Brancacci Chapel and the church of Santa Maria Nuova). We will definitely visit the church of Santa Maria Novella to admire the fresco “Trinity” of the Masaccio. And in the Brancacci Chapel we will admire the unique painting of the arches and walls of the great master.

After it there will be time for independent walks around the large and pompous Florence, at 5 pm we will go back.

Day 5 / Wednesday
DELICIOUS DAY! (For those who wish for it – for an additional fee)
After breakfast at 10 am we will go to meet with local farmers and their “treasures” (journey time – 40 minutes). We will taste not only wines, but also cheese and olive oil of the Province of Chianti Aretino. Toward the end of the journey – return to the villa, where the master class will take place – we will prepare dinner with an Italian chef. It will be really interesting and very tasty!

Day 6 / Thursday
After breakfast at 10 am we will go on trip to Monte San Savino, (journey time – 1 hour). The wonderful Tuscanian man Matteo, who live in Monte San Savino since birth, will tell you what is unique for this town for him. As they say – from first-hand. After walking around the town is intended free time. The town is famous for its signature dish – porquetta, which you can taste at lunch time (for those who wish for it – for an additional fee).
Porquetta is the queen of the Italian festivals. We will not be mistaken if we say that the porquette was liked by everyone who has ever degustated it in Italy. This is a fried roll of whole pork with a head, a crispy skin crust and with meat flavored with aromatic spices.
And then we will go to San Giovanni Valdarno - the birthplace of the artist Masaccio. We will admire the landscapes that inspired Leonardo da Vinci while creating the portrait of Gioconda.

Day 7 / Friday
Breakfast, after which the real pearls of the Siena lands awaits you.
Meeting with a guide in the town of Torrita di Siena, visiting the historic center, the church of Saints Flora and Lucilla. Here is an icon depicting the Siena pig “Cinta Senese” accompanying St. Antonio Abbot.
Passage to the medieval town of Montefollonico with the view to the Val di Ciana valley. Visit to the Romanesque church of Pieve di Corsignano, transfer to the city of San Quirico d'Orcia. Acquaintance with the Cathedral in the Romanesque style, which is an outstanding creation of the masters of the Pizan school.

Next – free time in the town, where you can dine in one of the many restaurants. And on returning to the villa, there will be a finishing festive dinner accompanied by a Tuscan folklore group.

Day 8 / Saturday
Free day. Check-out until 10 am.
We really hope that you will take with you the taste of this magic “drink” called Tuscany.
